I’ve been stitching recently. Not cross stitching, though I’ve been doing some of that, too. But I’ve been inspired by a couple images I found on Pinterest of people with gorgeous, colorful work that was based on doodles.
I’ve also been remembering that I’m an artist. So. For this piece, I drew directly onto the fabric. Then I started stitching from there. I’m enjoying it immensely. And loving the spontaneity of it.
It got me thinking. I love this kind of work. I know that there are a lot of people who don’t like doing the drawing side of the art, but would love to have a one of a kind piece after they are done stitching. So I’m going to be offering 8X10 inch designs, all one of a kind (commissions happily accepted). They will come with the design drawn freehand on the fabric, designed at 7.75X9.75 so that they’ll easily fit in an 8X10 inch standard mat opening, and 4 inches of extra fabric all around, for more finishing options. I’m also considering round drawings that can be framed in a hoop. I’ll include a pamphlet of basic embroidery stitches, but all color and stitch designs will be up to the stitcher, to create a true artistic collaboration. $45.00 including Priority Mail Shipping in the US.
