Happy 2015, everyone! I hope that you all have had a great holiday season and are ready to dive into more stitching in the next few months!
I am happy to announce that Monday I will be releasing a new chart, based on a crewel design I posted as an Elmow several years back. Little bunny rabbit and fantasy flowers, called “Little Tree of Life” it uses big, bold colors and Weeks Dye Works threads to create a vintage stitched look. Check here on Monday for a link to purchase it (when I went to frame it for photos I discovered a couple tweaks that need made before I can let you stitch it!)
And in the bad news front, I am sad to say that I have had to disable the instant digital downloads from my Etsy site. Etsy has chosen to assert that they are not responsible for compliance to the new EU VAT rules, and also to NOT make tools available for me as a seller to comply with the new rules myself in a timely manner. The rules went into effect on January 1st, and they are saying “sometime early in 2015.”
I think it’s probably likely that I will have to revert to sending digital downloads as an emailed file instead of “instant” downloads. In addition, I am going to have to limit them to non-EU countries. The new rules are going to extend to physical products next year, as well, and since I don’t sell a great deal to the EU in any case, unfortunately I will probably make the decision to stop offering international shipping to the EU in all cases at that point, unless things change dramatically.
I’ll still be here blogging, and I’m trying to find a way to work this, because I’d really like to expand into the next few years…
