The Atlantian Embroiderer's Guild of the Society for Creative Anachronism makes medallions to give out as awards. I've been working on several over the past few months. They aren't "finished" but they're stitched!

Golden Dolphin:

I really really wanted to play with what I'd learned in a recent Metal thread class. So here it is. The dolphin is Kreinik #1 japan gold, couched to fit the outline. The silver top is Kreinik fine cord, and the blue couched silk is, I believe, Eterna, although I got it as a second, and I'm not sure. It's a filament silk that I really like to work with, although it catches on everything when you stitch.

Golden Dolphin Award

Hippocampus:

This is an award for service that is given to the children in the Kingdom. Because it's for kids, I wanted something they could wear and wash and still have it look good. So I worked it all in cotton on linen. Easily washable. It will be finished in a broadcloth to hang on their belt. The top half of the hippocampus (a heraldic seahorse) is worked in split stitch, and the bottom in rows of stem stitch to fill in his tail.
